Here’s something you may not know about Saint Helena. Saint Helena acquired fame as the place of Napoleon Bonaparte’s
exile, from 1815 until his death in 1821.

Saint Helena is rugged and volcanic. Ascension is covered by lava flows and cinder cones of 44 dormant
volcanoes. Tristan da Cunha is made up of sheer cliffs that line the coastline of the nearly circular island
and the flanks of the central volcanic peaks are deeply dissected. Saint Helena harbors at least 40 species
of plants unknown anywhere else in the world. Ascension is a breeding ground for sea turtles and sooty
terns. Tristan da Cunha is the highest island mountain in the South Atlantic and a prominent landmark on
the sea lanes around southern Africa. Longwood House was Napoleon Bonaparte's residence for the last
years of his life after being exiled to Saint Helena which I think would be an interesting place to visit. I have
to say, for such a tiny place in the middle of nowhere, I think Saint Helena would be an interesting place to
spend a week as fall approaches.
