
Principality of Andorra is located in the southwest of the European Continent, with a population of 84,525, making it the 198th
largest national population. Its capital and largest city is Andorra la Vella with a total population of 22,884. The country
encompasses 468 square kilometers making it the 193rd largest country in total area. It shares boundaries with France and
Spain.
French Co-prince Nicolas Sarkozy and Spanish Co-prince Bishop Joan Enric Vives i Sicilia are recognized as the Chiefs of
State and achieve that status through popular vote for the French president and appointment by the Pope for the Spanish
Bishop. The President of France holds his position for five years and may be reelected and the Bishop of Urgell holds his
position for life or until ecclesiastical elevation. The President of France is represented by Christian Fremont and the Bishop of
Urgell is represented by Nemesi Marques i Oste. Executive Council President Jaume Bartumeu Cassany is recognized as the
Head of Government and achieves that status through election by General Council and is formally appointed by the Co-princes
and holds that position for a four-year term. Its form of government is a Parliamentary Democracy and they celebrate the
creation of their constitution in 1991.
The languages commonly or officially spoken are Catalan, French, Castillian and Portuguese. It counts among its major
religion Roman Catholic. As sources of mass communication it has 15 FM stations.
Major geographical features are Coma Pedrosa, its highest point at 2,946 meters, and Riu Runer near Sant Julia de Loria, its
lowest point at 840 meters. Its principal waterway is Valira d’Orient, which measures 50 kilometers.
Major industries providing for the bulk of their Gross Domestic Product (GDP) are tourism, cattle raising, timber and
banking. Its official currency is Euro.
Here’s something you may not know about Andorra. For 715 years from 1278 to 1993 Andorrans lived under a unique Co-
principal, ruled by French and Spanish leaders. In 1993 this feudal system was modified with the titular heads of state
retained, but the government transformed into a Parliamentary Democracy.

Andorra is very, very pretty and the photos are just breathtaking. They have no AIDS in Andorra or it was not
reported. Either Yes! Or that is sad. They are a very tiny country and finding them on the big map was very
hard. The fun fact was found under Andorra in The C.I.A. World Factbook I want to visit them and ski,ski, ski! I
would also like to see, see, see the country. Will you go and see it?
