
Republic of Liberia is located in the west of the African Continent, with a population of 3,441,790, making it the 132nd
largest national population. Its capital and largest city is Monrovia with a total population of 1,010,970. The country
encompasses 111,370 square kilometers making it the 103rd largest country in total area. It shares boundaries with Guinea,
Cote d’lvoire, the North Atlantic Ocean and Sierra Leone.
President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf is recognized as the Chief of State and Head of Government, and along with Vice President
Joseph Nyumah Boakai, achieves that status through popular vote and holds that position for six years and is eligible for a
second term. Its form of government is a republic and they celebrate the creation of their constitution on 6th of January
1986.
The languages commonly or officially spoken are English and some 20 ethnic group tongues. It counts among its major
religions Christian, Muslim and indigenous beliefs. As sources of mass communication it has 7 FM, 2 Short Wave and 1
Television stations.
Major geographical features are Mount Wuteve, its highest point at 1,380 meters and Atlantic Ocean, its lowest point at 0
meters. Its principal waterway is the Atlantic Ocean, which measures 579 kilometers of coastline.
Major industries providing for the bulk of their Gross Domestic Product (GDP) are rubber processing, palm oil processing,
timber and diamonds. Its official currency is the Liberian Dollar.
Here’s something you may not know about Liberia. Liberia means "The Land Of The Free” as it was formed by freed
slaves from the United States.

Liberia is one of the many 3rd world African Countries which makes me very sad. When we go I will do all I
can to help out this poor country and take a whole lot of pictures. I can't help saying that all of the children
that I see in Africa just make me want to cry. I hope you can visit this country and do all you can to help.
